Hi, I'm Stefanie! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Yoga Teacher. I like to trace my journey into the mental health and wellness field back to 2009 when I was first introduced to the practice of yoga. After a difficult time in my life, yoga helped me to heal and cultivate resilience. Through yoga and meditation, I was able to dissolve many of my own internal barriers and truly connect to myself. It didn't take long for me to become captivated with the power of holistic healing.
After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Boston University, I went on to earn a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago. Prior to joining Chicago BodyMind Wellness Studio, I worked in various non-profit settings including sexual trauma therapy, anti-sex trafficking work, suicide prevention, and substance abuse therapy.
I have always been eager to think outside the box and integrate mental health treatment with holistic practices. In my work as a therapist at Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault, I created a therapeutic yoga program for sexual assault survivors as well as a therapy group focused on mindfulness and self-compassion. My background in yoga gives me a truly holistic framework from which I approach my therapy work. Likewise, my experience as a therapist keeps my yoga teaching grounded in knowledge of mental health and trauma.
